The first meeting leading to the organization of Selbu Lutheran was held at the Peter J. Wigan home on May 2, 1902. The congregation organized in January of 1903, worshipping in the old school house on Mud Flat until the first church was completed in 1905. The name “Selbu” was chosen because most of its members were originally from the Selbu district near Trondheim, Norway.
